About the role
This is a diverse and varied role that will utilise your passion for plants and gardens across the public spaces of our municipality. This is a hands-on physical role specialising in both garden landscaping, as well as daily maintenance.
The successful candidate for this role will have a passion for public gardens and spaces and will have extensive knowledge of horticulture to provide advice and guidance to council on all aspects of the garden life cycle including planning, planting, and pruning.
You will also work with the Parks and Reserves team to ensure all aspects of garden maintenance are undertaken, including trimming and shaping plants, planting, mulching, fertilising, plant and soil health checks, mowing, and basic irrigation.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be reliable, self-motivated, be able to manage your time and work priorities, and be proactive and show initiative.
You must have exceptional attention to detail and driven to achieve a high standard of presentation.
For your application to be considered:
* Must have 1 or more years' professional gardening experience
* Physically fit to undertake sustained daily outdoor activity
* Extensive knowledge of Tasmanian conditions and requirements
* Must have a current Australian drivers licence
* Must have a Tasmanian Working With Vulnerable People clearance, or be able to obtain

This position is being offered on a full-time basis, working a nine-day fortnight, and will be based out of our Longford depot. Terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
