The role
The Role
We are seeking a Marine Biologist - Deckhand to join our permanent team. This is a unique role combining deckhand duties with marine interpretation, research support, and guest engagement. You'll also take the lead on our Bremer Bay Intern Program, recruiting and mentoring interns throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with vessel operations, mooring, safety, and guest support
- Deliver engaging marine commentary and presentations
- Spot, identify, and interpret wildlife behaviour for guests
- Collect data and support research collaborations
- Write daily expedition blogs (Bremer Bay season)
- Recruit, lead, and mentor interns during the Bremer Bay program
About You
- Have a Degree in Marine Biology
- Confident public speaking and strong communication skills
- Physically fit and capable of deck duties (rope handling, lifting, cleaning)
- Passion for marine life, conservation, and guest engagement
- Experience working at sea or in tourism is an advantage
