Commercial Manager – strategic leadership, governance, and commercial excellence across a growing WA business. Our client is a long‐established Western Australian success story, supplying high‐quality manufactured products to domestic and international markets. In order to strengthen the operational capability and position the business for sustainable growth, an opportunity has opened up for a newly developed position of Commercial Manager to join the senior leadership team.
This pivotal role provides strategic oversight across Quality, Safety, Environmental, Risk, Compliance, and Procurement functions – ensuring the frameworks, governance, and controls are in place to support a resilient, responsible, and commercially strong organisation.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Commercial Manager acts as a senior business partner to both the CEO and COO, providing broad commercial insight, risk‐based guidance, and enterprise‐level leadership. This role is not about technical detail — it's about seeing the bigger picture, shaping decision‐making, and guiding the organisation through strong governance, clarity, and accountability. You will lead two direct reports (Quality Manager and WHS Advisor) and influence leaders across all operational sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership & Governance
o Provide enterprise‐level leadership across Quality, Safety, Environmental, Procurement, Compliance, and Risk.
o Shape frameworks, policies, and governance tools that enable consistent and informed decision‐making.
o Partner with senior executives to guide commercial and operational strategy.
* Environmental, Sustainability & Risk Oversight
o Lead high‐level environmental governance and sustainability direction.
o Own the Group Risk Management Framework and consolidated Risk Register.
o Identify emerging risks and provide insight to executive leaders.
* Quality & Safety Governance
o Oversee the Quality Management System and associated certifications (ISO 9001, HACCP, Organic, Halal, Kosher).
o Provide strategic WHS governance, ensuring obligations and material risks are effectively managed.
* Procurement & Supplier Management
o Lead procurement governance, supplier relationships, and high‐value commercial negotiations.
o Ensure procurement and supply chain risks are effectively captured and escalated.
* Compliance & Reporting
o Maintain broad organisational compliance with regulatory, certification, and customer requirements.
o Provide regular high‐level reporting to the CEO and COO across all governance domains.
o Drive continuous improvement and integrated system development.
About You
You are a seasoned commercial leader with a broad business background and the ability to bring enterprise‐wide perspective to complex decisions. You are curious, commercially astute, and confident navigating governance, risk, compliance, procurement, and operational intersections.
* Extensive experience in senior commercial, operational, or strategic leadership roles.
* Strong governance, risk management, and decision‐making capability.
* Strategic procurement and supplier negotiation experience.
* Ability to influence leaders across multiple sites and functional areas.
* A holistic and balanced approach to commercial and operational challenges.
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance, or similar (preferred).
