Research and Development Officer
About The Role
The Research and Development Officer in our Composite Fibre Technologies (CFT) business is a pivotal role with a key focus on developing and delivering R&D initiatives which support the commercialisation of CFT products across target applications.

Main Responsibilities
Hands-on duties operating with construction materials and within a chemistry laboratory, including hazardous chemicals and manual handling
Conduct lab trials, clean and maintain lab equipment and assist with field trials as required
Early research, investigation and feasibility of new ideas, both product and materials
Ensure suitable procedures are developed and maintained for all works conducted
Investigate cost effectiveness, manufacturability and durability in design
Research and advise on test methods for various prototypes
Purchasing – contribute to the sourcing needs for new materials found through the R&D process.
Input to product design for function, cost and manufacturing efficiency
About You
To be successful in this role you need:
Ability to read and interpret test standards and methodologies
High attention to detail and a practical mindset to successfully deliver activities to completion
Strong time management skills to manage a number of competing priorities
Experience using a variety of software packages, including laboratory test software
Capacity and willingness to develop your knowledge (Polymers, FRP, Fibres, Automation)
Friendly and positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Strong commitment to safe work practices
