The Role
This is an ongoing opportunity for an ITDS End User Services and Desktop Engineer to join the Professional Services team at UTS College. Reporting to the ITDS Portfolio Delivery Manager, this role oversees the design, delivery, management, and support of end-user devices to improve overall user experiences.
Responsibilities
* Design, construct, and configure Microsoft desktop platforms to meet business needs.
* Facilitate large-scale software deployments.
* Utilize scripting languages like PowerShell, VBScript, or Python for task automation.
* Manage configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
* Demonstrate proficiency in networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.
* Provide primary support for Active Directory, ensuring the upkeep of user and computer records.
* Deploy and oversee software deployment tools like Intune / SCCM.
* Assess and refine Windows 10 and Windows 11 Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
* Develop and enhance Standard Operating Environments (SOEs).
* Produce documentation and SOPs to facilitate team knowledge transfer.
* Adhere to best practice methodologies and recognized ITIL processes.
* Mentor service desk personnel to support large-scale rollouts effectively.
* Support mobile device management and other project initiatives as needed.
* Maintain and support AV and meeting room equipment.
* Offer 3rd level desktop support.
* Support OKTA or equivalent systems.
* Handle mobile device management responsibilities.
* Log support requests with vendors or third-party entities when necessary.
* Provide expertise in supporting Teams, SharePoint, and related platforms.
* Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to guide infrastructure development.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 5 years' operating in technical support roles in an End User Computing & Desktop support environment.
* Demonstrated experience in desktop engineering or a similar capacity.
* Proficiency in Microsoft platforms and associated technologies.
* Strong scripting abilities in PowerShell, VBScript, or Python.
* Experience with virtualization technologies and configuration management tools.
* Knowledge of networking concepts and server infrastructure.
* Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, and software deployment tools.
* Excellent documentation skills and adherence to SOPs.
* Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Capacity to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement solutions.
* Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
* Experience migrating Windows and building Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
* Working knowledge of ITIL processes and practices.
