The key duties of the position include Agency Overview The Federal Court of Australia entity is the administrative organisation that engages employees under the Public Service Act 1999 to work in support of one or more of the following courts or Tribunal: Federal Court of Australia, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and National Native Title Tribunal. The Courts Administration Legislation Amendment Act 2016 established the Federal Court entity however, each court continues to maintain its distinct statutory identity, with separate functions and judicial independence. Employees are covered by the Federal Court of Australia Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027. Position Overview The Librarian - Serials works as part of the Melbourne Library team in the provision of a high quality library and information service to Judges and staff of the Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and National Native Title Tribunal in Victoria and Tasmania, with an emphasis on the management of serials, loose leaf services and standing orders for the Library, Registry and Chambers, and responsibility for the Library and Chambers binding program. As a part of the national library team this role will also be actively engaged with team members around the country in interlibrary loan and document delivery requests, in acquisitions tasks and other work related to centralised processes, in contributing to current awareness publications produced by the library, and with project work as it arises. Library team members regularly meet to discuss work related developments, to share experiences and to participate in training and development. Duties 1. Serials and Binding Management and processing of serials, loose leaf services, standing orders for the Library, Registry and Chambers collections Management and processing of the binding program for Library and Chambers collections Liaising with publishers and vendors in regard to related publication, service and supply problems 2. Current awareness services Select and index articles for the Family Law Update and National Current Information Review, and other current awareness publications 3. Collection development, organisation and maintenance Process incoming mail Process invoices onto Finance One File and keep loose-leaf services up to date Maintain and enhance library databases 4. Client Services Respond effectively, promptly and courteously to all reference and document requests including for Inter-library loans Assist clients in the use of library resources 5. Library Management Be a committed member of the local and national library team by contributing to the initiation of improved and new services and changes to procedures Participate in the Court's performance management program Participate in the activities of relevant professional bodies and associations in the library and information sector
