Front-End Developer / UI Designer - 12 Month Contract

The Chief Information Officer Division is seeking experienced Front-End Developers / UI Designers with a strong dual skillset across development and design. You'll work in agile, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and user-focused digital solutions across major corporate and digital programs.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design and deliver user-centric digital experiences, iterating based on user feedback
* Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
* Conduct usability and accessibility testing to ensure solutions meet requirements
* Develop responsive UI components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React/Angular)
* Translate research insights into meaningful interface improvements
* Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and user researchers
* Advocate for human-centred design principles across delivery teams
* Convert designs, prototypes, and POCs into high-quality, production-ready code
* Ensure alignment with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA minimum)
* Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within an agile environment
About You
* Proven experience in both Front-End Development and UI/UX Design
* Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as ReactJS and/or Angular
* Experience with prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Axure
* Solid understanding of design systems and usability principles
* Experience implementing accessible digital solutions (WCAG 2.1 AA or higher)
* Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional agile teams
* Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contract Details
* Initial 12-month contract
* Up to 2 x 12-month extensions available
* Maximum 2 candidates per supplier
* Onsite in ACT (remote arrangements considered case-by-case—please indicate preferred work location if outside Canberra)
