About the role Mater is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join Catherine’s House at Mater Hospital Brisbane on a maximum-term contract September 2026 – October 2027 working 32 hours per week. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class perinatal and infant mental health service, supporting mothers, babies and families through an integrated inpatient, outpatient and community model of care. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day administrative operations of this highly specialised and compassionate service. Ensure safe high-quality perinatal and infant mental health care is delivered to every patient every time Contribution to medical governance specific to psychiatry Involvement in the evidence-based/evidence-informed identification and prioritisation of clinical practice improvements that ensure translation of research and evidence into practice Contribute to strategic decision-making with the Medical Director of Catherine’s House for sustainable and efficient prioritisation of clinical practice improvement initiatives that require resource allocation Identify, report, respond to and rectify workplace health and safety (WHS) concerns from within own reporting structure, and advises the Director, Catherine’s House on priority safety concerns and objectives relevant to the clinical workforce Support all facility-based leaders in their analysis, monitoring and facilitation of compliance of the clinical workforce with relevant legislation, clinical standards, safety and quality systems and other statutory or contractual requirements Provide mentoring to junior doctors using timely, consistent and clear communication that deepens interprofessional cohesion and engagement within and across teams Effectively represent, negotiate with and influence colleagues and peers to catalyse and embed change outside own hierarchy About you Registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA Fellow of RANZCP Advanced training in Consultation Liaison, Psychotherapy or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (desirable but not mandatory) Clinical experience in the field of perinatal and/or infant psychiatry Specific training in at least one dyadic therapy Comprehensive understanding of public and private health systems Expert knowledge of contemporary models of maternal mental health care Data analysis and research interpretation Service improvement methodologies Mater is Queensland’s largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, delivering exceptional care to nearly 700,000 patients each year across 11 (soon to be 12) hospitals.
