Whether you're looking for experience in regional centres or large teaching hospitals, Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora offers diverse training opportunities for Surgical Registrars across the country.

We’re ideally looking for candidates with at least 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience, and prior Surgical Registrar experience would be advantageous.

Surgical Registrars in New Zealand train under the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) (https://www.surgeons.org/) through a comprehensive five to six-year (FTE) Surgical Education and Training (SET) programme.

Training is offered across nine specialties and combines operative experience, clinical rotations, structured teaching, and progressive responsibility. Training programmes will vary between each of our districts, each offering unique experiences and learning opportunities.

RMOs receive nationally standardised salaries with additional allowances for after-hours work and long service. Benefits may include:

- 6 weeks of annual leave
- 12 public holidays
- At least 10 days’ sick leave
- CME leave and funded training opportunities
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance

Streamlined Registration for Eligible Doctors
