Trade Instructor – Cabinet Making / Carpentry

is a permanent, full-time role based in Woorololo (Wooroloo), WA. You will deliver practical, trade-based training to prisoners as part of the Industries team at Acacia Prison, helping them develop job-ready skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications.
Responsibilities
Deliver hands-on carpentry training and supervise prisoners working on carpentry projects
Supervise prisoner work teams to achieve workshop productivity and safety goals
Promote rehabilitation and post-release employability through skills development
Ensure tools, equipment, and machinery are maintained and securely controlled
Identify and address safety issues and adhere to WHS and security standards
Support sentence management by reporting prisoner progress, behaviour, and participation
Qualifications
A relevant trade qualification in cabinet making or similar (Certificate III or equivalent)
Proven carpentry experience in a commercial or workshop setting
Knowledge of relevant WHS legislation and safe work practices
Strong communication skills and the ability to guide and support adult learners
A valid driver's licence and current forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to obtain DOJ clearance and pass a National Police Check
