Assistant Project Accountant
The Assistant Project Accountant – Cost and Estimating will play a key role in the development of estimates that inform both internal business decisions and Commonwealth deliverables as part of the SSN AUKUS Build Program.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the development of accurate cost estimates using appropriate techniques, including analysing workscope and structure within a logical Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
* Apply financial/commercial factors to calculate pricing, including contingency and risk, utilising estimating tools such as ProPricer and @Risk
* Assist in responding to estimate queries and supporting negotiations with the Commonwealth, ensuring compliance with business systems
* Analyse cost variances and consolidate data to support estimate development, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain estimating registers and support administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in delivering estimating outputs
About You
* A tertiary qualification in Commerce or Accounting is required, demonstrating a strong foundation in financial principles and practices
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and ability to communicate complex issues clearly, both verbally and in writing
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software, such as ProPricer, are essential for success in this role
* A collaborative mindset and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships are critical in this team-based environment
* Resilience in working with evolving data and priorities is essential, as is a high level of motivation and commitment to delivering accurate estimating outputs
