TasBuild Limited manages the Portable Long Service Fund for eligible workers in the Tasmanian construction industry. Appointed by the Tasmanian Government in 1998, TasBuild operates as a private trustee company, ensuring the Fund is administered in line with the Construction Industry (Long Service) Act 1997 and its rules. TasBuild supports employers and workers through guidance and education, maintains service records, collects long service contributions, invests funds, and facilitates the payment of eligible long service entitlements.
Chairperson Role
The Chairperson will lead the Board of TasBuild, providing clear strategic direction and ensuring effective governance oversight of the Fund. Working closely with the Board and Chief Executive Officer, the role is responsible for fostering a high‐performing and collegiate board environment, supporting disciplined and well‐informed decision making, and ensuring the organisation meets its statutory and fiduciary obligations. The Chairperson will also play an important role in maintaining constructive relationships with industry stakeholders, all levels of government, contributors and beneficiaries, supporting the long‐term sustainability and relevance of the Fund.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead board deliberations and governance oversight.
* Develop and implement strategic direction for the Fund.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and fiduciary obligations.
* Maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, government, contributors and beneficiaries.
* Facilitate balanced and robust board decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven board and leadership experience.
* Strong financial acumen and sound judgement.
* Ability to facilitate robust and balanced board deliberations.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Experience in construction or investment management is desirable.
