Surf Coast Shire Council is currently looking to fill an Early Childhood Educator Assistant position to commence in early 2026. Our Early Childhood Educators ensure the provision of high-quality education and care program is provided that meets the approved learning frameworks and National Quality Standards and support an inclusive and safe environment for children where innovation, creativity, active play, and resilience are encouraged.
Job Description
Your new career
We are currently looking for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant to assist in the provision of delivering a high quality education and care program that meets the approved learning frameworks and National Quality Standards set by State Government for Occasional Care services. The successful applicant will support an inclusive and safe environment for children where innovation, creativity, active play and resilience are encouraged.
About the role
This role will commence on 12 January 2026.
Hours per week to be worked on: Monday – 7:45am to 12.45pm
Contact – 8:15am to 12:15pm
Non Contact – 7:45am to 8:15am and 12:15pm to 12:45pm
What you will bring to the role
We are looking for an Educator who:
* has a strong understanding of child development and are able to create environments for children that provides them with the opportunity to play, explore, experiment, problem solve, think critically and use their imaginations.
* values the development of trusting, respectful and responsive relationships with the children, their families and colleagues
Key selection criteria
Mandatory requirements (skills & experience)
* Minimum of a Certificate lll in Children's Services from an ACEQA approved training organization.
* Demonstrated experience working with children and families.
* Experience in assisting in the development and implementation of an educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks.
* Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and an understanding of how this impacts on daily practice.
* Excellent skills in verbal and written communication with children, staff and the wider community.
* Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with all staff.
* Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace.
* Current First Aid (HLTAID004 Education and Care setting), including annual CPR update, Asthma and anaphylaxis (or ability to undertake before start date).
* A current WWCC.
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Experience working with children with Additional Needs.
