About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimise critical Oracle and SQL Server environments. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting capability, and a proactive approach to performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
* Database Administration & Availability – Manage, maintain and support Oracle and SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, reliability and security.
* Performance Optimisation – Monitor database health, tune performance, and resolve bottlenecks across large, complex environments.
* Backup, Recovery & Upgrades – Design and manage backup/recovery strategies, execute upgrades, patches and migrations.
* Security & Governance – Enforce database security policies, manage user access, contribute to standards and best practices.
* Collaboration & Automation – Support application deployments, automate routine tasks (SQL/PowerShell/Python), mentor junior DBAs, and participate in on-call support.
Key Skills & Experience
* Extensive DBA Experience – 10+ years administering both Oracle and SQL Server in enterprise environments.
* Deep Platform Knowledge – Strong expertise in Oracle (RAC, ASM, Data Guard) and SQL Server (AlwaysOn, mirroring).
* Performance & Recovery Specialist – Proven experience in performance tuning, monitoring tools, and backup/recovery strategies.
* Strong Technical Capability – Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills, plus scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash or Python).
* Enterprise & Cloud Exposure – Experience with database migrations, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Oracle Cloud), and working within structured IT environments (e.g. ITIL).
