Salary: From $88,967.41 base salary + super (based on experience)

You'll step into a pivotal role at the heart of our Finance Services team, supporting the City's rates and receivables operations. As the Interim Rates Officer, you'll be the go-to person for maintaining accurate property and rates records, processing accounts, and delivering exceptional service to our community.

Job Description

What You'll Be Doing

* Effectively and efficiently manage the City's interim rating function, including the amendment of property valuations and the application of relevant charges, ensuring full compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, and internal procedures.
* Accurate creation and ongoing maintenance of all land and property parcels within the City's property database, maintaining data integrity and compliance with relevant Local Government legalisation and internal procedures
* Responsible for the prompt and accurate processing, balancing, and levying of interim rates and service charges, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and internal procedures
* Liaise with Landgate Valuation Services and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate and resolve rating and valuation matters, ensuring timely communication and compliance with legislative requirements
* Manage the creation and maintenance of property database records following subdivisions, amalgamations, and strata title amendments, as advised by the WA Planning Commission and Landgate.
* Advising Valuer Generals Office of additional building improvements, providing plans, licences and completion dates for purpose of revaluation
* Deliver high-quality customer service for rating queries to meet the City's Service Level Agreement
* Debt recovery and legal action processes, including liaising with the legal team to resolve matters
* Managing pensioner rebates and concessions applications and enquiries

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a detail-oriented team player with a passion for service. You'll ideally bring:

* Year 12 qualification (essential)
* Experience in a computerised work environment
* Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Ability to extract and analyse data
* Sound clerical background with financial concepts
* Experience with local government rating systems, Local Government Act 1995 and Valuation of Land Act 1978 – Essential
