KEE Surfacing, our largest division, is known for its superior spray seal, profiling, and asphalt crews, and has built the reputation as the industry's best in WA. We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Laboratory Manager to lead our Asphalt laboratory operations across metropolitan and regional WA projects.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior management, this is a hands‐on leadership role responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, technical compliance, staff development, and quality systems in line with NATA and Australian Standards. You will play a key role in strengthening laboratory procedures, supporting operational performance, and driving a strong culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Lead day‐to‐day asphalt laboratory operations and testing programs
* Manage NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance requirements
* Mentor, train, and develop laboratory personnel
* Oversee technical reporting, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support mix design verification, production troubleshooting, and field compliance activities
* Coordinate laboratory resources across metro and regional projects
* Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and verification programs
* Provide technical support to clients, production teams, and project personnel
Skills & Experience
* Extensive experience in asphalt and construction materials testing
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NATA, and laboratory compliance systems
* Previous laboratory leadership or supervisory experience
* Strong technical, organisational, and communication skills
* Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure
* Diploma of Laboratory Technology (or equivalent) and current driver's licence
* Existing NATA Signatory status and experience in asphalt production or mobile laboratory operations will be highly regarded.
