Role
The Membership Engagement Director will drive innovation, curating engaging environments that enrich people’s lives at every stage of their membership journey. This role focuses on marketing and communication, providing strategic planning and resourcing to enhance member experiences and position the Club as a leading private sporting club in Australia. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director strengthens member engagement by managing the Communications, Events Management and Membership Administration teams.
This full‑time role requires flexible availability during the week, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspire change, innovate and implement procedures to improve the member and guest experience.
* Develop policies, standards and procedures to enhance the Membership Experience.
* Craft a communications plan to Inform – Engage – Celebrate Club activities and achievements.
* Collaborate with the executive team to refine club programming and build relationships with current members.
* Oversee and manage effective member and staff communications programs.
* Provide an engaging new member experience through social interaction, communication and education of amenities, benefits and services.
* Develop and drive an engaging calendar of events and accompanying communication schedule.
* Create a Member Life Cycle strategic plan, fostering young member engagement and demographic celebration initiatives.
* Analyse member demographic characteristics to inform strategic initiatives.
* Manage reciprocal club relationships and member/guest experiences; identify staff development needs to build a talent pipeline.
* Establish a supportive environment with clear expectations, timely feedback, effective training, one‑to‑one coaching, mentoring and support to achieve high performance.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in marketing and hospitality management or membership management; preference for sporting club background.
* Report on daily operations in a timely manner.
* Valid Working with Children’s Check and Responsible Service of Alcohol qualifications.
* Ability to develop rapport and working relationships with members and staff, and lead from the front.
* Analytical and critical‑thinking skills.
* Strong financial acumen related to P&L management and cost control.
* Self‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to train and professionally develop employees.
