At Levande, we create vibrant and welcoming retirement living communities where residents feel at home. We are seeking a Grounds & Maintenance Officer to join our team at Ridgecrest Village in the ACT.
This is a hands‐on, varied role with a strong focus on gardens and outdoor presentation, while also supporting the general maintenance and upkeep of the village.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in maintaining both the landscaped grounds and the overall functionality of the village, ensuring it remains safe, well‐presented and enjoyable for residents and visitors.
While a significant portion of the role is dedicated to gardening and grounds care, you will also assist with day‐to‐day maintenance tasks across the village.
What You'll Be Doing
Grounds & Gardens (Primary Focus)
* Maintain lawns, gardens and landscaped areas to a high standard
* Planting, pruning, mulching, watering and general horticultural care
* Monitor plant health and proactively maintain presentation
* Manage and respond to garden maintenance requests
Maintenance & Village Upkeep
* Carry out general maintenance tasks across the village as required
* Maintain outdoor common areas including pathways, patios, BBQ areas and furniture
* Assist with minor repairs, cleaning and upkeep of shared facilities
* Support waste management and bin maintenance
* Conduct basic inspections of equipment and common areas
General
* Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely
* Follow WH&S policies and contribute to a safe environment
* Build positive relationships with residents and support a strong community culture
About You
You're someone who enjoys working outdoors but is equally comfortable turning your hand to general maintenance tasks when needed.
* Experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance (minimum 1 year preferred)
* Practical, hands‐on maintenance skills (minor repairs, general upkeep)
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual tasks
* A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
* Friendly, approachable manner with a customer service mindset
Nice to have:
* Experience in retirement living, facilities, councils or similar environments
* Driver's licence
