The opportunity
Mandurah's parks, reserves, and streetscape tree assets are set within a unique coastal and estuarine landscape.
These green spaces are central to our active lifestyle—contributing to cleaner air, providing shade along pedestrian routes, and supporting urban biodiversity.
As the City's Arborist, you'll play a key role in shaping the long-term growth, health, and resilience of our urban forest.
You'll lead the development and delivery of strategies that align with community goals for tree planting, preservation, and restoration.
You'll also provide expert advice, training, and mentoring to support best practice in tree planning, installation, maintenance, risk management, and protection across the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will need
Diploma in Arboriculture (or demonstrated equivalent)
Eligible for, and willing to obtain, membership to Arboriculture Australia or International Society of Arboriculture
Qualified in QTRA, VALID or ISA-TRAQ
Construction White Card
Current unrestricted national driver's licence
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in:
project supervision and contract management of arboriculture works/tree surgery within the public realm
interpersonal and communication skills with experience in providing technical briefs and reports to senior level stakeholders on tree management issues
tree value and valuation processes
implementation and monitoring of programs and systems relevant to quality tree management processes

Applications from candidates with the following experience and qualifications, and a willingness to undertake further study supported by the City, will also be considered to commence in the role of Tree Care Specialist and transition to the position of Arborist after successfully receiving a Diploma of Arboriculture:
Certificate III in Arboriculture (or demonstrated equivalent)
Qualified in QTRA, VALID or ISA-TRAQ
