Legal Advisor Role
Overview
* We are seeking a highly skilled legal advisor to join our team on a part-time basis.
This in-house role will act as a trusted advisor across the business, providing expert legal guidance to support growth and development.
The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in contract law, property law, intellectual property, and consumer law. They will be able to translate legal concepts into commercially practical advice and provide effective stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities:
Intellectual Property Management
* Register, monitor, and enforce trademarks and designs locally and internationally.
* Manage IP infringement, including cease and desist processes and domain disputes.
* Maintain IP portfolio and advise on brand protection strategy across all regions.
Contract Negotiation and Management
* Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supplier, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, collaboration, and influencer agreements.
* Manage and update standard form templates (NDA, T&Cs, talent agreements, etc.).
Lease Management and Compliance
* Negotiate and review retail lease agreements, heads of agreement, renewals, and other ancillary lease documents such as Incentive Deeds and Agreements for Lease.
* Track key lease dates (renewals, rent reviews, expiry, make good, etc.).
* Liaise with landlords and external leasing agents/legal advisors as required.
Dispute Resolution and Compliance
* Manage disputes relating to tenancy, rent adjustments, and maintenance obligations.
* Provide legal guidance on marketing campaigns, competitions, consumer law, and e-commerce.
* Oversee privacy compliance and data handling requirements (e.g., website terms, privacy policies).
Team Collaboration and Support
* Be a legal sounding board across all areas of the business as needed.
* Help translate legal concepts into commercially practical advice.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Qualified legal practitioner with an unrestricted practising certificate or eligible to obtain one in NSW. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years post-admission experience, preferably in-house or with a strong commercial background. A solid grounding in contract law, property law, intellectual property, and consumer law is essential.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are necessary to translate legal speak into everyday language. An organised, responsive, and able-to-manage-competing-priorities individual with a sense of calm and humour is preferred.
