Primary objective
To support the Student Pathways team to deliver holistic support for students by enhancing student wellbeing, engagement, and
completion of chosen pathway. To lead the development of adjustment plans for students with additional needs and the Nationally
Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) requirements. To be an active member of the Student Pathways team, focused on developing
relevant programs and documentation required to support our most at-risk students to complete their Northern Territory
Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) and deliver relevant professional learning. Provide flexible and innovative
approaches to engage students and to create a welcoming and caring environment.
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to students,
resident in the Northern Territory (NT) or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE works in collaboration with other NT
schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. Teachers must be
able to deliver and develop learning programs aligned with our Instructional Model. Teachers must be prepared to travel, use
advanced online technologies, and teach in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure timely completion, monitoring and development of adjustment plans for students with additional needs.
2. Lead the collection and reporting of NCCD data and report to the principal in line with departmental requirements.
1. Lead the Special Provisions process for non-dual students.
2. Provide advice and professional development opportunities across the school, including advice pertaining to suitable external
programs and agencies to cater for students with diverse needs.
5. Contribute and be an active member of a year level team, including supporting students online and on site to enhance access
to senior secondary curriculum, subject selections, pathway advice and enrolments.
6. Undertake additional duties and teaching load as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in developing adjustment plans and leading the collection and collation of NCCD data and completing
departmental requirements for NCCD data.
2. Ability to model best practice and be committed and capable of providing professional development to upskill staff who are
working with students with diverse needs.
1. Proven ability to develop pathway plans for students with diverse needs.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop productive partnerships with colleagues, students, parents, relevant departmental agencies
and the wider community.
5. Registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board and a current Working with Children clearance notice or the ability to
obtain.
Desirable
1. A knowledge of current educational theory and practice as it applies to improving student well-being, engagement and success.
