Position Overview
The Boilermaker is responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication, and repair work on heavy vehicles, trailers, and equipment. This role involves a variety of metalwork tasks to support the maintenance and repair needs of the dealership’s service operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication work on trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
- Carry out structural repairs and modifications in accordance with specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings and plans for fabrication tasks.
- Operate workshop equipment including MIG, TIG, and arc welders, grinders, and cutting tools.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and meets quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with OHS policies.
- Assist with other workshop duties as required, including general maintenance and repair tasks.
- Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor and Workshop Foreman regarding job status and priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker or Fabricator.
- Proven experience in welding and fabrication, particularly in heavy vehicle applications.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
