Technical Assistant, Clinical Skills
This is a challenging role that requires a skilled and experienced individual to support the practical teaching requirements of our clinical skills classes. As a key member of the Technical Services and Facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring that clinical training facilities, equipment, and resources are managed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with academic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the preparation, setup, and packing down of clinical skills and simulation-based teaching sessions.
* Assisting with the operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of clinical skills equipment, manikins, and simulation technology.
* Supporting the management of consumables, stock levels, and basic procurement processes in line with delegated procedures.
* Assisting with room bookings, timetabling information, and the organization of teaching resources across clinical learning spaces.
* Following safe work practices and supporting compliance with work health and safety and risk management requirements.
* Assisting with record keeping, equipment registers, and basic asset management tasks.
* Providing friendly, student-focused support during practical classes and assessments under the direction of academic staff.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of technical procedures, workflows, and teaching environment set ups.
Requirements:
* A qualification and/or relevant experience in a health, science, or technical discipline.
* Experience working in a clinical, laboratory, simulation, or teaching support environment.
* Practical understanding of clinical or teaching equipment use, cleaning, and basic maintenance.
* Understanding of work health and safety responsibilities and safe work procedures in a clinical or technical setting.
* Good digital literacy skills, including the use of basic systems for scheduling, record keeping, inventory, or compliance documentation.
* Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks, particularly during peak teaching periods.
* Experience following established procedures and contributing ideas for improving service delivery and workflow.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with academic, professional, and technical staff, and to provide courteous support to students.
