Selection Criteria
* SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including ability to incorporate teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Experience responding to student learning needs.
* SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high‐impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact on student learning growth.
* SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching and providing feedback to students and parents.
* SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community.
* SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality.
Role Overview
The role of classroom teacher is divided into two salary ranges, Range 1 and Range 2. All teachers are responsible for planning, preparing and delivering high quality teaching to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their salary range, qualifications and experience.
Range 2 Responsibilities
* Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
* Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers, supporting their professional growth.
* Provide expert advice on content, processes and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning.
* Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
* Assist staff to analyse student data and inform teaching approaches that achieve targets for improving student learning outcomes.
Range 1 Responsibilities
* Develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner under guidance from senior teachers.
* Plan, prepare and teach across a range of students and classes, delivering specific learning outcomes.
* Participate in school policy development, project teams and co‐curriculum activities.
* Support new entrants to the profession through structured mentoring and guidance.
* Assist in the implementation of school priorities and professional learning activities.
General Responsibilities
* Direct teaching of student groups and individual students.
* Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or other programmes.
* Undertake additional classroom‐related and organisational duties as directed by the School Principal.
* Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
* Perform non‐teaching supervisory duties as required.

Qualifications
* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* Completion of an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after1January2024, satisfying the accreditation requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership.
* For those who completed a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after1July2016, demonstration of passing the LANTITE literacy and numeracy test.
