About the role
Based on an 8:6 FIFO roster ex Perth, the position of Quantity Surveyor supports a major structural remediation project within the iron ore sector. You will provide accurate cost planning, budget control, and contract administration to ensure the delivery of critical structural integrity works. Working closely with engineering, project, and site teams, you will help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with commercial and regulatory requirements.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Support Structural Programs – Collaborate with engineering and asset integrity teams to plan and manage structural repair, rehabilitation, and upgrade initiatives.
* Maintain Budget Control – Monitor project expenditures, ensuring delivery within approved budgets and proactively managing cost risks.
* Manage Contracts & Tenders – Oversee tender processes, assess contractor bids, and administer contracts in line with company policies and Australian Standards (e.g., AS4000, AS2124).
* Drive Commercial Value – Identify cost efficiencies through value engineering, life-cycle costing, and continuous improvement recommendations.
* Ensure Compliance & Mitigate Risk – Maintain adherence to financial, legal, and regulatory requirements, supporting risk management in commercial and contractual matters.
About you
* Qualified Professional – Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Industry Experience – 5+ years in mining or heavy industrial sectors.
* Regulatory & Standards Knowledge – Strong understanding of Australian Standards, mining regulations, and contract law (e.g., AS2124, AS4000).
* Software Proficiency – Experienced with cost management tools such as CostX, Candy, and MS Excel.
* Remote / FIFO Experience (Desirable) – Familiarity with remote or FIFO mining operations.
* Professional Recognition (Desirable) – Membership or chartered status with AIQS, RICS, or equivalent.
* Asset Management Insight (Desirable) – Understanding of asset lifecycle costing and condition monitoring systems.
