The Neonatal Unit is a critical care facility providing specialized services to premature and unwell neonates. The unit offers a mix of shifts, including 8hr, 10hr, and 12hr rotations. Staff comprise nursing, medical, social work, physiotherapy, speech pathology, dietetics, and perinatal mental health professionals working collaboratively to achieve the best possible health outcomes and effective discharge planning processes.
Responsibilities include providing specialist care to premature and unwell term neonates, short-term mechanical ventilation, and collaboration with Paediatricians and Registered nurses. Opportunities for education are provided through induction, orientation, and ongoing staff learning, including clinical education linking with Flinders Medical Centre.
