Overview
Brisbane Montessori School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and relationship-focused Science and Mathematics Adolescent Guide to join our Montessori Secondary team. This full-time role blends strong academic delivery in QCAA senior subjects with Montessori 12–18 adolescent pedagogy, supporting students' intellectual, social, and emotional development.
The ideal educator is committed to academic excellence, understands (or is willing to learn) Montessori developmental principles, enjoys working collaboratively, and brings a warm, humorous and grounded presence that helps adolescents feel seen, respected, and capable.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
• Teach Years 7–9 Science and Mathematics using inquiry-based and hands-on approaches consistent with Montessori principles.
• Deliver Years 11–12 Physics, Mathematical Methods, and Specialist Mathematics in line with QCAA requirements.
• Design and implement QCAA Units 1–4, including assessment instruments, ISMGs, authentication procedures, and teaching/learning sequences.
• Create engaging, differentiated learning that integrates real-world, practical, and project-based opportunities.
• Maintain accurate student data, progress monitoring, and reporting.
Montessori Adolescent Practice
• Build the prepared environment: empowering students' independence, agency, and responsibility.
• Foster respectful relationships rooted in trust, humour, high expectations, and guidance rather than authority.
• Use observation as a teaching tool; support the academic, social, and emotional needs of emerging adults.
• Contribute to occupations, community projects, interdisciplinary learning, or practical work where appropriate.
Collaboration & Community
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary adolescent team (Guides, Learning Support, Wellbeing, Careers, etc.).
• Participate in cross-curricular planning, excursions, camps, community days and whole-school events.
• Communicate regularly with families and collaborate in supporting students' wellbeing and learning pathways.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture aligned with Montessori philosophy and school values.
Essential Criteria
• Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) with QCT registration.
• Demonstrated ability to teach:
* Junior Science (Years 7–9)
* Junior Mathematics (Years 7–9)
* Senior Physics, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics
• Experience developing and implementing QCAA Units 1–4 for senior subjects.
• Strong understanding of adolescent learning needs: curiosity, belonging, identity formation, social interaction, humour, and emotional safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based, student-centred environment.
• High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and approachable manner.
• Current Positive Notice Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing.
Desirable
• Awareness of Montessori principles, especially Montessori 12–18 adolescent development.
• Willingness to undertake Montessori adolescent training (supported by the school).
• Experience with interdisciplinary or project-based learning.
• Comfort supporting broader aspects of the adolescent program (community engagement, camps, productions, wellbeing).
• Interest in innovation, STEM integration, sustainability, or experiential learning.

• Parent Child Programme (PCP) Birth - 15 months
• Montessori Independent Toddler Community (MITC) 15 months – 3-year-olds
• Children's House (3 – 6-year-olds)
• Lower Primary (6 – 9-year-olds)
• Upper Primary (9 – 12-year-olds)
• Middle School & Year – 16-year-olds)
• Senior School Years 11 & – 18-year-olds) (Opening in January 2026)
