About you:
You are a qualified Medical Practitioner with demonstrated clinical experience and skills, including obstetrics and gynaecology, a willingness to participate in teaching at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education including maintenance of personal knowledge and skills and demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of quality improvement and to the principles of continuous quality improvement and review.
Your opportunity:
The primary function of the position is to provide high quality clinical care to patients out of Cairns Hospital, including pre-conception care, antenatal and postnatal care, and participation in provision of gynaecology services.
Your role:
1. This position reports to the Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the Cairns Hospital.
2. Under the supervision of the relevant consultants, initiate, maintain, and be responsible for the clinical care of patients.
3. Conduct day to day review of patients.
4. Ensure comprehensive, accurate. and concise medical records are maintained for patients.
5. Contribute to quality patient care by participation in case planning which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, in-hospital care, and discharge planning.
6. Provide assistance with surgical procedures and outpatient clinics as directed.
7. Arrange investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment, and discharge as directed.
8. Ensure that discharge summaries and other correspondence are completed with minimum delay and that all such correspondence is complete prior to leaving the unit.
9. Maintain good communications with all areas and disciplines within the health service and with local medical practitioners to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the hospital.
