Job Title: Deputy Facilities Manager (Maintenance)
Key Responsibilities:
* To coordinate and manage the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality reactive support service to all internal customers and staff residents.
* To manage the fault reporting system, ensuring that the maintenance team and estates administration team work consistently and efficiently.
* To identify and report defects in building fabric.
* To liaise with Heads of Houses and Matrons in planning works and facilities manager projects at prep schools.
* To provide support to staff at prep schools as needed for reactive support requirements.
* To liaise with management at Little Lancing to deliver suitable reactive support.
* To conduct regular workshop safety inspections and checks on tools/equipment as required by statutory regulations and risk assessments.
* To establish a regular meeting schedule with the Maintenance Team, recording and publishing meeting notes on a regular basis.
* To lead, under direction from the Premises Manager, on sourcing best value/service supplied for reactive maintenance supplies and oversee ordering for such supplies.
* To plan, implement, and monitor compliance-related servicing and maintenance regimes to ensure buildings are safe and ready for use.
* To carry out surveys on school premises, including fire detection and protection systems, fire doors, asbestos-containing materials, emergency lighting, internal and external surfaces, and equipment, as directed by the Premises Manager.
* To lead day-to-day and planning of mechanical and electrical related works, working alongside the Premises Manager and Estates Bursar, keeping registers of testing, pre-planned maintenance, and building maintenance system (BMS) management.
* To plan, coordinate, and manage in-house estates-related projects carried out by the Maintenance Team, as agreed with the Premises Manager.
* To coordinate and manage contractor-led small to medium projects, as directed by the Premises Manager/Estates Bursar.
Requirements:
* A valid, clean UK driving license is essential.
* Possess good numerical and IT skills.
* A thorough understanding of, and experience with, all aspects of the role.
* Previous experience providing a high-quality facilities service.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team and management colleagues and manage multiple relationships.
* A willingness to undertake relevant training.
* Ability to multitask both short-term needs and longer-term planning.
* A good team player.
* Previous experience leading a team.
* Experience working within a residential or school environment.
* Experience managing budgets.
* Experience and knowledge of health and safety documentation and risk assessments.
* Undertaken health and safety training, such as IOSH/NEBOSH.
* Confident leading and motivating a team.
* A self-motivated, friendly, and approachable individual, with a flexible approach to work.
* An individual who thinks ahead, generates ideas, and proposes creative solutions to problems.
