LDB Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-driven Junior Quoting & Structural Steel Estimator to join our growing team. Working closely with our director and highly experienced estimating and management teams, you will gain comprehensive skills in quoting, scheduling, project coordination, and interpreting technical drawings. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about the construction and engineering sectors and is committed to building a long-term career pathway in structural steel estimating.
Key Responsibilities
In this junior capacity, you will be supported to progressively develop the skills needed to:
* Assist in preparing accurate and timely quotes for structural steel packages across commercial and residential projects.
* Learn to interpret architectural, engineering, and structural steel drawings—an essential component of accurate estimation.
* Support project scheduling, planning, and coordination tasks.
* Communicate professionally with clients, builders, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Assist in identifying new project leads and opportunities through platforms such as EstimateOne.
* Contribute to basic drafting, detailing, and administrative estimating tasks as required.
* Work collaboratively with senior estimators, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
About the Role

This role requires a high level of professionalism at all times, as you will often be the face of LDB Engineering when dealing with clients, builders, and site personnel. You will be required to:
* Present yourself in a professional and courteous manner
* Attend site meetings with builders and project teams
* Conduct accurate on-site measurements and assessments
* Represent LDB Engineering with integrity, reliability, and strong communication

Preferred Skills & Attributes
While this is a junior position, the following will support your success:
* Some exposure to the construction, engineering, or fabrication industry (preferred but not essential)
* A willingness to learn how to read and interpret technical and structural drawings
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
* An interest in CAD software, drafting principles, and basic estimating platforms
* Familiarity with EstimateOne or similar software is advantageous
* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal teams
* High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach to learning
