Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It also utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
**About the role**
Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for the Victorian correctional system and comprises of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and localised prison intelligence units located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager Safety and Operational Services, the Intelligence Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the delivery of intelligence services to support decision makers across CV, the department, and its key stakeholders. The Intelligence Manager will provide expert intelligence advice to executives and operational managers across the state, as well as strong leadership to a small team of intelligence practitioners.
The Intelligence Manager must foster and maintain critical stakeholder relationships within the Department and across the criminal justice system. The position will contribute to the ongoing strategic planning, implementation, and improvement of the CVIU to meet the organisation's changing needs, with a focus on service excellence and community safety.
The role also requires strong leadership to drive development of a varied workforce, strong governance, and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
The Intelligence Manager will be required to attend other relevant work locations within the Barwon Precinct with the predominant work location being Western Plains Correctional Centre.
