About The Service
The Rockhampton Rehabilitation Unit is a dedicated, purpose-designed facility featuring:
16 inpatient rehabilitation beds 15 day therapy time slots Outpatient clinic space for amputee services and post-rehabilitation follow-up
The Medical Team Consists Of
1 Rehabilitation Staff Specialist 1 Registrar / Principal House Officer
You will work within a well-established interdisciplinary team including Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Psychology, Dietetics and a Recreation Officer — ensuring comprehensive, patient-centred rehabilitation care.
About The Role
The Registrar / PHO supports the Staff Specialist and Senior Medical Staff in delivering high-quality care to rehabilitation patients.
Key Responsibilities Include
Ongoing medical management of 16 inpatients, day therapy patients and outpatient clinic reviews Reviewing and documenting clear, comprehensive medical notes following each patient review Assessing referrals from acute wards and external sources regarding suitability for admission Managing rehabilitation patients presenting with acute or urgent illness/injury in consultation with senior medical staff, including in the Emergency Department Participating in case conferences and family meetings to coordinate multidisciplinary care
This role offers strong exposure to rehabilitation medicine within a supportive regional teaching environment.
About You
MBBS (or equivalent) eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at **Level 3 supervision**
For Candidates With Qualifications Obtained Outside Australia
Eligibility for AHPRA registration at the appropriate supervision level Evidence of IELTS (or equivalent) completed within the last 12 months Successful completion of AMC MCQ (Part 1) examination Evidence of recent clinical practice supported by current references Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Remuneration
Total remuneration up to **$169,083 p.a.**, comprising:
Salary between **$125,808 – $138,571 p.a. (L4–L7)** Salary between **$125,808 – $145,865 p.a. (L4–L9)** 12.75% employer superannuation 17.5% leave loading
