Are you someone who values legal work for what it is, helping people navigate some of the more difficult periods of their lives?
Lagom Family Law is a boutique practice focused on thoughtful, strategic advice. We work with clients who need clarity and direction, not noise.
We are looking for someone who has built a solid foundation in a legal setting and is ready to continue developing within a supportive, high performing team.
About Us
Lagom means the right amount.
That is how we approach our work with clients and how we run our team.
We do not take a one size fits all approach. Every client brings a different set of circumstances. Our role is to understand that properly and guide them with clarity and care.
We are a small team by design. We work closely together, communicate openly, and support each other.
There is an expectation that everyone contributes and takes responsibility for their work.
The Role
You will work closely with the Principal, Practice Manager, lawyers, and legal administration team, contributing to active family law matters while continuing to build your capability with appropriate guidance.
This is a hands on role with real responsibility. You will be supported, but you will also be expected to engage with the work, think ahead, and take ownership of the tasks and workstreams delegated to you.
You will
* Support parenting and property matters through accurate and efficient completion of delegated tasks.
* Produce accurate, high standard drafting with minimal revision.
* Assist in preparing files for mediation, court, and counsel briefings.
* Maintain familiarity with the files you are working on, including prior correspondence, court events, trust position, and upcoming deadlines.
* Manage client intake, file setup, and ongoing file organisation in Smokeball.
* Coordinate with clients, counsel, experts, and other professionals as required.
* Complete delegated work reliably, anticipate follow up steps, and keep matters moving through strong execution.
* Ability to independently manage your own tasks
What We Are Looking For
* 6 months to 1 year experience working in a prior law firm
* Prior legal administration, paralegal, or law graduate experience, ideally in family law or an area that focuses on litigation.
* A genuine interest in the people behind the legal issues.
* Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
* The ability to manage competing priorities and follow through.
* Confidence in taking and actioning instructions, while knowing when to seek guidance.
* A proactive mindset and the ability to think ahead.
* High personal standards, reliability, and pride in your work.
* We are looking for someone who is steady, capable, highly organised, and takes pride in doing the work properly.
What You Will Get
* Exposure to meaningful, well run matters.
* A strong remuneration package based on your experience, what you can deliver, and a focus on rewarding hitting KPIs.
* Ongoing guidance and mentoring from experienced practitioners.
* Responsibility that increases with your capability.
* A collaborative team environment with clear communication.
* Flexibility that works around both the role and your life outside it.
