Job Title: Classroom Teacher-Humanities
The role of the classroom teacher is to plan, prepare and teach programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The position involves direct teaching of groups of students and individual students, contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver lessons that cater to diverse student needs
* Assess and report on student progress
* Contribute to the development of curriculum programs
* Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, camps and excursions
* Perform other duties as required by the School Principal
Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs.
2. Experience in planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
3. Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
4. Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community.
5. Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and experience reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve teaching quality.
Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position. Qualification Requirements: Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Graduates of a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016 must also have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
