Work Health & Safety Business Partner - Automotive
We are seeking an experienced Safety Professional who is passionate about people & ready to take the next step in their career. This opportunity is ideal for someone who believes strong relationships, visible leadership, and genuine engagement are the foundations of a positive and sustainable safety culture.
Based in Brisbane, this role will support safety investigations and drive the consistent implementation of safety standards. You will work closely with Managers and frontline teams to embed practical, people-led safety practices into everyday operations.
Experience within a similar operational, multi-site, or industry-aligned environment is essential. A key focus of the role will be building leader capability — coaching managers to confidently identify risks, address hazards, and take ownership of safety outcomes to ensure alignment with company standards.
About the Role
This role will support incident response & investigations working with Operational Management to drive the consistent implementation of safety standards across our business.
You will work alongside leaders and teams to strengthen safety leadership capability, build accountability, and create an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute to safer outcomes. This is a hands‑on, relationship-driven role focused on coaching, influencing, and driving outcomes for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with leaders and frontline teams to embed our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) framework into everyday operations.
* Coach and mentor managers to confidently lead safety within their teams, strengthening ownership, accountability, and engagement.
* Build capability in operational leaders to effectively implement our Safety Management System and foster a positive, proactive safety culture.
* Support leadership teams in managing incidents with care and professionalism, including leading investigations and identifying meaningful corrective actions.
* Develop leaders’ skills in incident investigation to ensure thorough, fair, and constructive outcomes. Maintain and monitor company Investigation Register.
* Partner with the Group WHS Team to develop clear, engaging safety communications such as Safety Shares and tailored toolbox talks.
* Support the delivery of safety engagement initiatives aligned to our Safety Communications Calendar, including activities such as Safety Week.
* Role model and promote company values, policies, and our Code of Conduct, ensuring ongoing compliance with workplace health and safety legislation.
About You
You are a relationship-driven safety professional who understands that meaningful safety improvement starts with people. You are confident working in operational environments and have experience in a similar business or industry.
Required Skills & Experience
* Formal qualification in Workplace Health & Safety (or related discipline).
* Experience in a similar industry or operational, multi‑site environment (essential).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience within the Safety field.
* Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and build capability in leaders and teams.
* Strong communication skills, with experience facilitating risk assessments and practical safety conversations.
* Proven ability to influence decisions and achieve balanced, practical safety outcomes.
* Experience implementing or rolling out safety systems and safety culture improvement initiatives.
* Solid experience managing incident response, reporting, and investigations.
* Ability to build strong, trusted working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
