Swan Hill Rural City Council is seeking a motivated and proactive Emergency Management Project Officer to play a key role in strengthening our municipality's emergency preparedness and resilience. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of planning, collaboration, and community engagement—helping to protect and support our community before, during, and after emergencies.
About the Role
Reporting within a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will help Council meet its obligations under the Emergency Management Act 2013, delivering vital projects and providing hands-on support to ensure our emergency management arrangements are effective, compliant, and responsive.
What you will be doing
* Drive emergency management planning and implementation across the municipality
* Support emergency management committees and contribute to successful grant applications
* Build strong, productive relationships with key agencies, stakeholders, and community groups
* Maintain and manage Crisisworks software and emergency management documentation
* Provide high-quality, timely, and responsive administrative support
What you will bring
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
* Strong organisational abilities with the confidence to juggle competing priorities
* A proactive, solution‑focused approach to challenges
* Flexibility to travel within the region, including occasional overnight stays
You will need
* Tertiary qualifications with some relevant experience, or substantial relevant experience supported by lesser formal qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in project management
* Proven ability in high‑level administration
* Sound understanding of emergency management principles and practices
* A current and valid driver's licence
* A current Working with Children Check (employee)
A National Police Check will be conducted on the preferred applicant
Highly desirable
* Experience with adult learning methods and risk assessment
* Familiarity with emergency management platforms such as Crisisworks
What we offer
* A temporary, funded part‑time position until June 2028
* 24 hours per week, worked Tuesday to Thursday (alternative days negotiable)
* $45.65 per hour + 15% super
