I am exclusively partnering with a global, technology-led organisation to appoint a Head of Tax, a key leadership role within the Finance function. The organisation operates at the forefront of data science, analytics and artificial intelligence, helping large enterprises make smarter commercial decisions through data-driven insight. With a growing international footprint and continued investment in innovation and technology, the business is strengthening its finance leadership capability to support its next phase of growth.
Reporting directly to the CFO and sitting on the Finance Leadership team alongside the Financial Controller and Head of FP&A, the Head of Tax will lead the global tax function, ensuring strong governance, compliance and strategic tax oversight across multiple jurisdictions. This is a highly visible leadership position that combines deep technical tax expertise with strategic business partnering in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the global tax function, managing all corporate and indirect tax matters including corporate income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax across multiple jurisdictions.
* Oversee preparation and submission of all tax returns and ensure full compliance with global tax obligations and regulatory requirements.
* Manage tax effect accounting and support year-end audit processes.
* Maintain and strengthen the tax risk management framework, ensuring robust governance and compliance processes are in place.
* Monitor legislative developments and advise the business on potential impacts and opportunities.
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing guidance on tax implications of business activities, transactions and strategic initiatives.
* Provide advice on tax‐efficient structuring of new ventures, partnerships and commercial initiatives.
* Manage transfer pricing arrangements and ensure alignment with internal policies and international regulations.
* Support People & Culture teams on global mobility and employment‐related tax matters.
* Provide oversight of treasury and capital management activities, ensuring alignment with the organisation's broader financial strategy.
* Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, data quality and reporting capability across the tax function.
* Lead, mentor and develop a small team while managing relationships with external tax advisors and service providers.
* Build strong partnerships across finance and the wider business and provide regular updates to the Finance Leadership team on tax positions, risks and opportunities.
About You
* CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent) with a degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
* 10+ years' tax experience, including exposure to international and multi‐jurisdictional environments.
* Proven experience in a senior tax leadership role within a complex corporate or multinational organisation.
* Strong technical expertise across corporate income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and transfer pricing.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and manage high‐performing teams.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a matrixed organisation.
* Commercially minded with the ability to translate complex tax matters into practical business insight.
* Experience with tax technology, financial systems and process improvement in a fast‐paced environment.
