Our client, a leading Australian consumer and media-focused organisation is seeking a Manager to join its Strategy and Corporate Development team. Reporting to the Head of M&A and Investments, this role supports the sourcing, evaluation and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and venture capital investments. The position also offers exposure to strategy development.
The role will involve assessing a broad range of opportunities, from start-ups and early-stage companies through to mature businesses. The successful candidate will be expected to methodically analyse information, develop clear investment insights and contribute to decision-making under conditions of uncertainty and time pressure. This position suits someone who combines strong financial skills with intellectual curiosity and an interest in evolving business models.
In addition, the role supports ongoing portfolio management activities, including reviewing board materials, performing valuations and assisting with capital raisings and strategic reviews. On an ad hoc basis, the manager will also contribute to the management of a venture portfolio investing in early-stage businesses.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years' experience executing M&A or investment transactions within investment banking, corporate finance advisory, private equity, venture capital, a family office or an in-house corporate development team. A strong command of corporate finance and valuation methodologies is essential, along with clear written and verbal communication skills.
The role requires comfort working with incomplete information, ambiguity and tight deadlines, as well as the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.
