Quality raw sugar and by-products, such as molasses and renewable energy are all produced at the Site. A workforce of more than 300 permanent and seasonal employees are engaged across the business.
About the Role:
You will be a member of a team of three Mechanical Maintenance Engineers who are each responsible for the maintenance requirements of one of the three major areas of this large sugar manufacturing operation. The position focuses on the planning, organising and supervision of maintenance activities and projects for the Process area section of the operation. This area encompasses a wide range of of automated and steam supported plant such as heaters, clarifiers, filters, crystallisers, evaporators, vacuum pans, centrifugals as well as dryer, material handling, effluent and water treatment plant & equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
During the peak production period the factory operates on a continuous 24 x 7 basis for approximately six months of the year and your responsibilities will include:
* Providing support to production, including co-ordinating responses to breakdowns and resolving plant & equipment running issues
* Co-ordinating a preventative maintenance program and the execution of maintenance work during planned regular stoppages
* Leading a team of approximately 10 mechanical trades people, including a Leading Hand
During the remainder of the year when the factory is closed for maintenance and capital project work, your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the co-ordination of the execution of an annual program of planned maintenance and capital projects
* Leading a team of approximately 30 mechanical tradespeople and support personnel, including a number of front-line supervisors and being responsible for the co-ordination of external contractors
Key Requirements:
* Proven skills and experience in the planning, organising and supervision of plant maintenance activities associated with a manufacturing or similar operation
* Highly effective technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills, including the ability to co-ordinate responses to breakdowns
* Effective leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to provide technical direction and support to maintenance work groups
* Proven ability to ensure Health, Safety & Environment procedures and practices are being embraced and adhered to
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the development and monitoring of maintenance budgets
* Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workplace meetings and liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
* Proficiency in the use of computer systems and programs, including Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP and Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Project
* Relevant qualifications in the Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Trade fields
Relevant experience within the sugar industry will be highly regarded.
