About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Commercial Manager to oversee the financial and operational performance of our 1,000‑acre almond orchard in Waikerie, South Australia. Working closely with the General Manager, Orchard Manager and Director, you will manage compliance, finance, reporting, and key business functions that underpin quality and efficiency across the operation.
This is a part‑time role (0.6 FTE) with flexible hours and hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate. The role is currently Adelaide based.
Key Responsibilities
* Culture, values and safety – promote a positive culture, adhere to the values of the business and ensure a 'safety first' approach to everything we do
* Support the Orchard Manager in optimising cost‑efficiency and operational performance
* Lead staff and contractors to achieve safety and performance goals
* Prepare and manage annual and long‑range budgets (P&L and capital)
* Produce monthly/quarterly financial reports, cash‑flow forecasts and variance analysis
* Oversee all compliance, tax, insurance, funding and regulatory requirements
* Manage HR, payroll, creditors, debtors and internal controls
* Manage key agreements (e.g. water trading, pollination, energy)
* Maintain internal policies, risk controls and document compliance
* Lead and participate in regular board and operational meetings
* Build and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the business
* Stay informed on agri‑business trends and represent the company externally as required
Skills & Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, Finance or related discipline
* CPA/CA desirable
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Strong work ethic, acts with integrity, professionalism, solution focused, excellent verbal and written skills, effective and efficient, and able to prioritise and meet deadlines
* High proficiency in Xero, Excel and Microsoft Office
* Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and engage with multiple stakeholders
* Experience in managing corporate banking, cash flow and capital planning
* Professional, solution‑oriented and confident in board‑level communication
* Current driver's licence and permanent residency status required
