About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Administration Officer to join our Emergency Department on a casual basis.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing exceptional service to patients, visitors, and clinical teams.
The department offers a 24-hour comprehensive emergency service for adult patients, staffed by experienced emergency doctors, nurses, training registrars and house officers.
The department provides care to adolescents and adults with a full range of acute illness and injuries including Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Gynaecological emergencies.
As a Senior Administration Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and customer service support to patients, clinicians, and visitors.
You will:
Coordinate daily administrative functions, including patient admissions, discharges, and health fund checks.
Manage reception duties, process payments, and maintain accurate records and data.
Support rostering, scheduling, and stock control to ensure efficient department operations.
Assist with meetings, audits, and project activities, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
About you
You'll be an organised and proactive team player who brings professionalism, initiative, and a strong focus on service excellence.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Previous experience in an administrative role within a healthcare or hospital environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to patient-centred care.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Sound computer literacy, including intermediate Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with health information systems.
