HammondCare's sub-acute health services are located within Sydney at the following locations:

- Braeside Hospital (South-West Sydney),
- Greenwich Hospital (Lower-North Shore),
- Neringah Hospital (Northern Suburbs), and
- Mona Vale Community Palliative Care services (Northern Beaches)

**Summary of Role**:
Staff Specialist Palliative Care works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare in Performing the clinical duties of a staff specialist in palliative care as determined by the LHD Director of Palliative Care. The position is primarily based within the Southern NSW Palliative Care Services and if necessary, involves assistance with the delivery of inpatient, outpatient and community clinical palliative care services; implementation of and participation in palliative medicine education, research and quality improvement projects; participation in other activities related to the delivery of excellent palliative care.

**The essence of this role**:

- Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services to patients across Southern NSW LHD
- To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care
- To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare
- Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors, and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present

**Essential**:

- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce HammondCare and Southern NSW LHD values including collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment while demonstrating these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
- Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Palliative Care Medicine
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with teams to support and optimize their capacity to deliver services
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and clinical risk management; actively seek out improvements to service delivery; initiating change and consulting those affected by the change; allocating resources and proactively managing potential conflicts
- Demonstrate participation in ongoing professional development and a commitment to education and research
- Current Drivers Licence valid within NSW
