“I began my journey at John Hunter Hospital as an Assistant in Nursing while completing my university studies. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to specialise in my area of interest and have been continually supported throughout my career development. What I value most about working at JHH is the dynamic nature of the environment - no two days are ever the same, and each shift challenges you to think critically and grow through every experience.”
Amy Revett - Nurse Unit Manager
Same Day Inpatient Beds
About The Role
As a Registered Nurse within the Same Day Inpatient Beds (SDPB) unit, you will thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the preparation of pre-operative patients and the ongoing management of post-operative care. With exposure to a broad range of specialties, you will utilise and expand your skills in areas such as VAC dressings, patient flow coordination, and critical decision-making.
This is an ideal opportunity for a nurse who enjoys variety - no two days are the same, and each shift brings new learning experiences and clinical challenges. The role operates on a 7-day rotating roster, offering flexibility and the chance to work across a wide range of shifts.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team structure, including a designated team leader on morning and afternoon shifts who carries no patient load. You’ll also have the opportunity to build strong working relationships with our specialist teams, particularly in orthopaedics, enhancing both patient outcomes and professional rapport.
