Hydrogeology Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Hydrogeology Specialist to play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of our mine and contribute to technical aspects of Environmental Effects Statement and Declared Mines Rehabilitation Plan.
This role will oversee activities in collaboration with Technical Services and Project Management teams, leading the Hydrogeological Program to ensure contemporary systems and risk controls are in place.
You will be instrumental in evolving hydrogeological strategies and plans, contributing to Ground Control Management Plan and associated documentation to adapt to the dynamic geotechnical environment.
The successful candidate will have proven expertise in hydrogeology within a mining context, with a strong grasp of groundwater systems and geotechnical interactions. They will also have in-depth technical understanding of mining operations specific to the Latrobe Valley.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert technical advice on mine and rehabilitation activities to ensure site safety and stability.
2. Lead routine monitoring and analysis, including groundwater routines, weight balance analysis, and data management.
3. Scope and coordinate drilling activities and technical studies contributing to mine infrastructure rehabilitation and regulatory processes.
4. Manage and review consultant designs and proposals.
5. Identify geotechnical and hydrogeological hazards, implementing effective risk management controls and response plans.
6. Ensure compliance through trend tracking and proactive response to non-compliance events.
About You
* Tertiary degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering, Geology or a relevant discipline.
* Proven expertise in hydrogeology within a mining context.
* In-depth technical understanding of mining operations specific to the Latrobe Valley.
* Familiarity with the regulatory landscape governing mining and environmental management in the Latrobe Valley region.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-standard hydrogeological software tools.
* Demonstrated capability in financial oversight, including budget forecasting, expenditure tracking, and resource allocation to support program success.
