Overview Business Systems & Infrastructure Manager – Defence Delivery – at BAE Systems Australia

About the opportunity: We currently have a position available for a Business Systems & Infrastructure Manager – Defence Delivery. Step into this pivotal leadership role at the heart of Defence technology.
Lead the Defence Delivery Digital, Data and Cyber (DDC) team to deliver service excellence in IT operations, business system administration, infrastructure and network management and support for the 3 lines of Business in Defence Delivery. You will drive resolution of operational business requests ensuring service levels meet contracted customer obligations and build long-term strategic relationships across multiple teams including vendors.

Key responsibilities include:
Leadership & Team Management – Foster a service-oriented culture that balances operational outcomes with resource and staff development. Provide career growth through succession planning and performance reviews.
Strategic Direction & Capability Development – Oversee technology roadmaps, manage obsolescence, and drive technical upgrades to enhance business capability. Coordinate the development, acquisition, implementation and sustainment of business systems and services to ensure alignment with strategic goals and monitor progress against business benefits.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence – Ensure stable, secure, and high-performing service delivery across infrastructure, hosted platforms, and applications. Monitor operations, resolve disruptions, and implement business improvement initiatives to maintain quality while controlling costs.
Release & Transition Management – Ensure tools, processes, and automation support compliant service transitions, testing, validation, and configuration management (Project acceptance into production).
Compliance & Business Continuity – Own legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance across IT services. Implement audit findings, maintain effective controls, and ensure business continuity planning is in place.
Budget & Value Management – Meet financial targets while driving efficiency and value for Defence Delivery Business. Identify business improvement initiatives to help keep overall costs affordable while delivering high-quality service.
Stakeholder Engagement – Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Negotiate service expectations, gather feedback, and lead initiatives to improve communication and satisfaction.
Incident & Problem Management – Apply advanced technical strategies and lead resolution of complex issues independently. Ensure robust incident and problem management practices are in place.
About YOU
Extensive management experience in business systems administration and IT operations, including managing BAU support teams in complex corporate environments
Strong stakeholder management experience, including leading, developing and motivating multi-disciplinary teams
Experience with ITIL-based service management frameworks
Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders to generate business benefit while maintaining key relationships
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, or related field
Australian Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
