Our Sydney-based Structured Banking team leads the Mid-Market Financial Sponsor ("MMFS") activity within Australia, whilst also working closely with the CMB Large Corporate and Mid-Market relationship teams to help originate and execute event opportunities for our Australia-wide CMB client base, which includes both public and private companies and covers some of Australia's largest and most iconic names.
Based in Sydney and reporting to the Country Head of Structured Banking, this role could be suitable for someone from a Commercial Banking Origination ("CMBO") or Mid-Market Financial Sponsor ("MMFS") team who is either a skilled Director comfortable leading deal teams or an Associate Director who has demonstrated recent experience operating at a leadership-level within a transaction execution team.
**_Your main responsibilities will include:_**
- Acting as a complex debt specialist for CMB to lead deal teams and assist Relationship Managers in the origination and execution of corporate event transactions, including acquisition, sustainable finance and cross-border funding structures.
- Driving the Australian mid-market financial sponsor proposition - including coverage of existing inbound global priority sponsors, plus a select group of domestic private equity houses.
- Working with CMB and Risk colleagues in constructing appropriate responses to stressed credits and sectors, including alternate funding approaches.
- Positioning as the CMB conduit to Capital Financing specialists, particularly in relation to Leveraged & Syndicated Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Sustainable Finance and Corporate Advisory teams
- Serving as an integral part of a centre of excellence to assist with technical skill development across the broader CMB business.
Requirements
**_To be successful in this role, you will need:_**
- Relevant experience with a demonstrable track record in leading successful transaction evaluation and execution for corporate financings and event transactions including LBOs, acquisitions, recapitalisations, re-financings, green and sustainability-linked loans.
- Detailed knowledge of company valuation, capital structuring and external ratings methodologies with extensive experience in working within or alongside Capital Financing teams to deliver client-focused solutions.
- Superior technical proficiency in financial modelling for corporate and event transaction scenarios.
- Exposure to structuring and negotiating loan documentation for investment grade, sustainable finance, sub-investment grade, acquisition and leveraged finance transactions (e.g. APLMA, unitranche, TLBs and SLLs).
- A demonstrable track record of relevant experience in originating corporate and/or financial sponsor transactions, ideally with exposure to developed leveraged finance markets, as well as cross-border debt structuring experience in the Asia Pacific region.
- A willingness to engage, mentor and develop junior team members within the immediate team as well as the broader business.
- Outstanding stakeholder management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- A degree in Finance, Business or Accountancy-related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as CFA, MBA, or similar will be highly regarded.
