Position Type: Permanent Full Time (9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week)
Salary Range: Base Salary $67,667 per annum + super, plus overtime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. Additional entitlements and overtime do not form part of the advertised base salary

The Water Resource and Dam Safety Team operates in a busy 24/7 environment. The Ranger may be required to regularly work unsupervised and unassisted at Lake Ross. The Ranger is sometimes required to work in extreme conditions to assist in essential Dam Safety functions. Some physical demands apply to the position, including regular vehicle travel on rough terrain, lifting and other strenuous duties. The position may include irregular after-hours work and emergency response duties in extreme weather conditions.
This Position Will
* Assist in the day-to-day implementation of Land Management Plans within the Lake Ross Storage Area, including the selection and implementation of appropriate methods to effectively and efficiently undertake specialised operational tasks aimed at implementing these plans
* Assist in the operation of the Ross Dam and associated infrastructure
* Operate within the Ross River Dam and Paluma Dam Emergency Action Plans as directed
This role is not like a Ranger position within a national park. The role will work to maintain the vegetation, weeds and feral animals.
Qualifications And Experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Problem solving skills
* Demonstrated experience in safe work behaviour
* Very good team skills are required in this role, working in a team of two or more and independently
* Experience in Working outdoors
* Identification of native and weed species within the catchment area
* Weed control and survey -hand removal, herbicide application with various tools and equipment
* Experience in controlled burning operations- hazard reduction burns and ecological burns
* Fencing repairs and maintenance skills
* Feral animal control knowledge
* Machinery maintenance experience
* Track maintenance and tree felling
* Boat operations, weed survey and weed treatment from a vessel
* Dam monitoring and surveillance
* Deploying trail cameras
* Ability to conduct regular boundary checks and camera surveillance
* General vegetation maintenance experience- brush cutting, using tractor for slashing, Light Rigid truck with quikspray unit, daily use of John deer gators
