Overview
We are partnering with a boutique consulting firm with a strong reputation for delivering high value, advisory‐led work across the water sector. With an established presence nationally, the business is now investing in growing its footprint in New South Wales.
They are seeking a Principal Asset Management Engineer to act as a key individual contributor, leading technical delivery while playing a central role in building out the NSW practice. This is a senior, client‐facing position requiring both deep technical expertise in asset management and renewals, as well as the ability to win and grow client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of asset management and asset renewals projects across water and wastewater infrastructure
* Provide strategic advice to utilities and asset owners on lifecycle planning, capital investment and network optimisation
* Develop Asset Management Plans, renewals programs and long term capital works strategies
* Undertake and oversee asset condition assessments, criticality modelling and risk‐based prioritisation
* Support clients in improving asset performance, resilience and cost efficiency
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders within utilities, councils and private operators
* Play an active role in business development, including identifying opportunities, leading proposals and winning work across NSW
* Build and grow client relationships in the local market, contributing to the expansion of the NSW business
* Mentor junior engineers and consultants while helping shape the technical direction of the asset management offering
Key Requirements
* Degree qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
* 12 to 15+ years of experience within the water and wastewater sector
* Strong background in asset management with a proven focus on asset renewals and capital planning
* Demonstrated experience working with water utilities, engineering consultancies or asset owners in Australia
* Experience developing asset management frameworks aligned to ISO 55000 principles
* Strong technical capability across lifecycle costing, risk modelling, and prioritisation of renewals programs
* Commercial mindset with a track record of contributing to or leading work winning activities
* Established or developing network within the NSW water market is highly advantageous
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at both technical and executive levels
