Drake International is partnering with a leading manufacturer in the transport solutions industry to source an experienced and reliable Material Handler. This hands-on role ensures the efficient flow of materials throughout the workshop, directly supporting production accuracy, safety, and workflow efficiency.
About the Role
As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and organising materials to meet production schedules. You will work closely with the fabrication, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure materials are delivered accurately and on time, helping maintain high-quality manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Cut steel and materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
* Pick, prepare, and deliver stock to build job kits for scheduled production.
* Receive, inspect, and organise incoming materials and components.
* Maintain accurate stock records, including material movement and usage.
* Operate forklifts and handling equipment safely and efficiently.
* Uphold safety protocols and company quality standards at all times.
* Support workflow improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
* Assist with workshop organisation, stock storage, and general housekeeping.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience in steel cutting and material handling in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain).
* Familiarity with basic computer systems and stock tracking software.
* CNC laser cutting experience (highly regarded).
* Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
* Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
* Reliable, team-focused, and proactive with problem solving.
