You'll be responsible for delivering hydraulic designs, computations and reports that directly support our civil and mechanical teams in pump station and odour control projects.
From pressure sewer networks to surge modelling, you'll ensure designs meet industry standards and client requirements while helping to deliver projects that are practical, reliable and future-ready.Working closely with our Design Manager, Project Engineers and broader delivery teams, you'll bring technical expertise and analytical insight that drive quality outcomes.
This role will suit a technically minded professional who thrives on problem-solving, collaboration and contributing to projects that make a real impact in the community.Key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:Prepare and review functional and detailed design documentation including reports, drawings and specifications in line with WSAA codes, Australian Standards and authority requirements.Perform hydraulic designs for pressure sewer networks, including pipe sizing, pump selections and specification of air valves, flushing points and isolation valves.Undertake hydraulic analysis of pressure and gravity systems, including surge and transient modelling (using KY Pipe or equivalent).
Develop and maintain hydraulic calculation spreadsheets, design templates and technical documentation.Provide clear and timely communication with project teams, engineers and site staff to ensure designs are practical, accurate and achievable.Contribute to training, continuous improvement and technical development within the design team.Collaborate with project managers site teams, and stakeholders to resolve design challenges and provide technical input during construction phases.Ensure all designs and documentation comply with Aquatec's HSEQ standards, industry codes and client specifications, contributing to safe and high-quality project outcomes.About YouYou are a technically skilled hydraulic professional who thrives on delivering designs that are accurate, practical and aligned with project needs.
With a strong foundation in engineering principles and an eye for detail, you can confidently prepare complex hydraulic calculations and analysis to support project delivery.Your strong organisational skills, communication ability and collaborative mindset ensure you can work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
You are motivated by technical excellence, continuous improvement, and the opportunity to grow your career in the water infrastructure sector.To be successful in this role, you will have:3–5 years' experience in hydraulic design, ideally within the water and wastewater sector.Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Chartered status CPEng, NER, RPEQ, or RPEV is favourable but not essential).
Solid knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical engineering principles, with practical understanding of pumps, valves, pipe materials and related infrastructure.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with desirable skills in AutoCAD and KY Pipe (or similar hydraulic analysis software).
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with colleagues, consultants and clients.A collaborative and detail-focused approach, balancing technical precision with the ability to deliver within tight timeframes.At Aquatec, you'll be part of a collaborative design team working at the forefront of water and wastewater infrastructure.
